Twitter’s Cute Picture of the Day

Have a thing for cute images? Me too — I can’t help it! Seeing something adorable tends to make my day. I needed my daily fix but was frequently too busy or too lazy to stop what I was doing to go and find something cute to look at.

Using that as my inspiration, my developer brain came up with an idea, so I went ahead and built a small script that scours imgur’s /r/aww gallery that grabs the highest scored image each day and posts it to twitter.

Are you interested in how it works? Go ahead and check out the source over on GitHub!

Easy MailChimp Integration

I just released the updated version of my MailChimp WordPress plugin,  Easy MailChimp Integration!

With Easy MailChimp Integration, you can seamlessly integrate your MailChimp account in to WordPress. All you need is your MailChimp account’s API key and a list id.

Once the setup is complete you can use a widget or a shortcode to put the forms on your posts and pages or use it in your custom templates with a php snippet.

If you notice any issues, please submit a bug to the Github Issue Tracker and I’ll look in to it as soon as possible.

This is a continuation of the YIKES, Inc. Easy MailChimp Extender plugin.

View Unique Images Bookmarklet

I was getting tired of opening a ton of tabs to view images in a gallery so I made a small bookmarklet to handle it for me. This little bit of code will grab all of the unique image links from a page and open them as images in a new window (BMP, JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF).

Pattern & Craft

I don’t know him personally, but Jace from over at Pattern & Craft is doing a wonderful thing for his Mother. He’s basically making this website from the ground up, gathering followers and then planning to hand it off to her so she (and the Red Cross support effort for Japan) can make some much deserved money. Here’s the description of the site in his own words:

A few weeks ago I was in a craft store with my Fiancée and she was dismayed at the selection of cross-stitch patterns. Being bored and highly caffeinated, I proposed creating a cross-stitch pattern creator and marketplace where people could create and sell their patterns. She thought the idea was crazy (as 99% of my ideas are) as I already have too many things on my plate and the conversation and the idea were dropped.

I’m looking forward to when the site goes live so I can check everything out. If any of you can get out the word, he could use some more press on the whole matter. You can help out by going to the Press Kit page.

If you decide to help out, let me know below so we can spread the word together! Here’s to hoping the site starts off with a bang!

Suddenly, Artisans All Over!

There’s a new Marketplace in town strictly for the Artisan in all of us (well, shoppers too). If you have any kind of creative gene in your body, I suggest you hop on over to the Three Sisters’ Marketplace, a new site that I’ve just built and check it out. If you want any of the technical information, check out my portfolio entry for it.

Basically, it’s an upscale site for better than average Artisans to sell their goods and network with one another. They start by creating a shop and then fill it with their creations/products. They can even add events if they want. After all of the items are created and finalized, the Artisan submits their shop to the Jury. The Jury consists of hand picked Artisans and the Owner who then either accept or deny the shop.

Once the shop is accepted, it shows up in the site and the sales start rolling in (hopefully)! Other Artisans and Shoppers can then rate, fan and review the shop. I’m really, really proud with the way this site turned out and I hope you enjoy checking it out. If you have any suggestions or comments, let me know!
